Burn incense that means something as well as smells good
Vedic basil incense from Aromatika in Jaipur, a box of twelve hand-rolled masala sticks. Basil, or tulsi, is the sacred herb of Hindu practice, grown in temple courtyards and offered in puja, so a basil stick is the one to burn when you want the incense to mean something as well as smell of something. The scent is green and herbal with a peppery edge.
Masala sticks are made by pressing a paste of herbs, resins and oils onto a bamboo core rather than dipping a blank stick in perfume, so the smoke is fuller and the scent more rounded. Each stick burns for twenty minutes or more.
Light the tip, let it glow, blow out the flame and stand it in a holder on a heatproof surface. Twelve sticks to a 15g box, so it is a cheap way to try the Vedic range before buying several.
Each box holds 12 sticks, 15g. 21.5 x 4 x 2cm. From India.
