A faceted ball of rock quartz on a light brown wooden stand, the ball around 5.5cm across and the whole piece about 10cm tall, 225g. Where a polished sphere is smooth, a faceted ball is cut with flat faces all round, so it throws the light from a window in dozens of directions and reads as a cut gem rather than a stone; it is the piece that catches people's eye on a desk.
