Laced Gemstone Hexagon Pendant - White Howlite

A hexagon of white howlite bound in lace. Howlite is chalk-white with fine grey veins running through it, the stone most often dyed to imitate turquoise, here left in its natural white. In crystal practice it is read as the stone of calm and patience, the one kept for a restless mind.

The stone is bound in a net of lace, nylon and cotton, rather than capped or drilled, so nothing metal touches it and the whole stone shows. It hangs on an adjustable string of about 40cm, so it can sit at the collarbone or lower over a jumper, and it arrives ready to wear. The hexagon is cut by hand in India, so each stone has its own shade and markings.

At 11g it is light enough to wear all day and forget about, and it slips under a shirt for work. It makes an easy gift for someone who prefers natural, handmade pieces to shiny jewellery.
