Green Aventurine Meaning, Uses & Care

Green aventurine is quartz glittered through with tiny plates of green mica — the shimmer is called aventurescence, and the name comes from a Venetian glassmaking accident (a ventura, "by chance") that the stone happened to resemble. Chance, luck, accident: the associations were baked in from the start.

What green aventurine is used for

It is the opportunity stone — the one for luck, growth and new ventures. Gamblers carried it; gardeners swear by it; people starting things buy it. The tradition sets it at the heart chakra and reads its green as growth rather than romance: the stone for what you are trying to grow.

Pocket or planter. It is also the traditional stone to tuck into a card for someone starting something new.

How to care for it

Water-safe; recharge in nature. Happy in water and undemanding — recharge it outdoors, in the tradition.
