Jade is actually two minerals — nephrite and jadeite — used interchangeably for millennia before chemistry could tell them apart. In China it has outranked gold for most of recorded history: Confucius listed eleven virtues the stone embodied, and jade burial suits were sewn for Han princes. No stone carries more accumulated reverence.
What jade is used for
It is the stone of serenity and good fortune — but earned fortune, in the Chinese tradition: prosperity that arrives through balance and right conduct rather than luck. Worn for protection, given at births and weddings, and kept as the stone of a well-run life. Heart chakra, in the modern lists.
A worry stone or small carving, handled often — jade takes a polish from years of touch, and pieces are traditionally passed down still improving.
How to care for it
Water-safe; recharge in nature. Hardy and water-safe; rinse it and let it recharge in nature, as the tradition has it.
